Ruck Sack Inn is at the 3rd floor
Located at 33-B Hongkong St., this new Singapore hostel has received several positive reviews from travelers all over the world. Room rates are relatively cheap, starting at S$26. You could choose from mixed dorm beds or private rooms. Either way, it would still be a great deal considering the place is near Clarke Quay, one of the bustling centers in Singapore. We got a 4-bed mixed dorm which we booked online several months in advance.
Entrance
Ruck Sack Freedom Wall
Just a note: there are no ensuite bathrooms, just two cubicles with powerful round overhead showers. Don't worry if you forgot to bring toiletries as there are complimentary shampoo and body gel in each cubicles. And if you don't have your own towel, you could rent one for just S$2.
Common wash bin area
If you want to relax and/or mingle with other guests, you could stay at the lounge to read books, watch cable television/dvds, or play PS2/Wii. Three computer units are available for use, free of charge. They also have free wifi in all rooms!
Real-life Big Brother House hehehe
Guitar Hero, anyone?
24/7 free internet access
In the kitchen, guests could easily make toasts and coffee/tea for free anytime of the day. I love making PB&Js even at 3am! The water dispenser is also a plus because I saved up on buying pricey bottled water.
Dining area
Butter, peanut butter, grape jelly, and Nutella are provided
I love breakfast!
Cook thy own nom
You could store food in the fridge, just make sure to label it!
Everyone must wash their own used cutleries
Price list
Rent the machine and do your own laundry for S$4
I highly recommend Rucksack Inn because everything is clean, the staff are very helpful, and the location is a great bang for your buck! Rucksack Inn is just one of the few hostels located within Clarke Quay/Marina Bay. Most cheap accommodations are located at Bugis or Little India Area. However, I strongly suggest that you reserve your rooms in advance because the place gets fully-booked immediately (especially the private rooms). We enjoyed I stay and I'm sure you will too!
Kin & Dani were here!!!
We wrote on the door frame hahaha

ReplyDeleteyou're welcome! Rucksack also opened a new branch in Lavender. Heard they have several Macs for guests who want to use the internet. Enjoy your stay!
ReplyDeletehi.. I want to try rucksack inn too however do they have free hot chocolate anytime of the day? I do not drink coffee nor tea. and btw, how's the room?
ReplyDeleteHi kathy,
ReplyDeleteNo hot chocolate, only tea and coffee are in the pantry. You could also get hot or cold water from the dispenser. There's also a fridge if you have anything that needs to be stored. Private rooms are not that big since it's just a small hostel. For the dorm rooms (in Rucksack 1, at least) it could get quite crowded but the guests are quite nice and they make it a point to not be "too noisy" inside the room. Pillow and linen is already provided. I really recommend Rucksack Inn. They have 3 branches already..the one at Lavender has several Mac units for free web browsing. :)
