Consumer Electronics Live 2009 slated on Nov. 13 to 15

The country’s biggest electronics show is set to take the stage once more as Summit Live mounts the second Consumer Electronics Live (CEL), happening on November 13 to 15, 2009, at the World Trade Center, Halls A to C.

Run for Pasig River

Kapit Bisig para sa Ilog Pasig (KBPIP) will hold the “A Run for the River”, a fund raising event for the rehabilitation of Pasig River. Bilang isang outsider/observer, napansin ko lang na may mga glitches yung program. Hindi ko alam kung ako lang ba ang nakapansin nito pero medyo magulo kasi siya. Pero tingin ko naman nag-enjoy pa rin yung mga tao at yun ang importante. Sana ma-improve yun Visayas and Mindanao. Peace. Kudos pala sa team nila Juned para sa isang successful na event!

Renowned Filipino Filmmakers through the lens of Oscar Orengo

Instituto Cervantes, in celebration of the 8th edition of Película, launched a photo exhibit featuring several fundamental figures of the contemporary Philippine cinema last October 6, 2009 at the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP).

Brilliante Mendoza

Dubbed as “Eksena: Mga Sineastang Pilipino (Filipino Filmmakers),” the exhibit displays the work of renowned Spanish photographer Oscar Orengo. On display are photographs of 44 Filipino directors and actors. Top-billing the exhibit are photos of award winning and renowned local directors like Peque Gallaga, Jose Javier Reyes, Eddie Romero, Joel Lamangan, Maryo J. delos Reyes, Brilliante Mendoza and Jeffrey Jeturian. The younger directors such as Erik Matti and John Torres are also included.

Umpisa pa lang alam ko nang wrong move ang pagsakay sa karag-karag mong lumang Kia box type na taxi. Malayo ka pa lang medyo bad vibes ka na. Ngunit sa kadahilanang maulan sa Buendia kaninang umaga, di na kami nakapili pa ng masasakyan.

In fairness, hindi naman mabaho ang loob ng sasakyan mo. In fairness part 2, naiwas mo naman kami sa buwakananginang traffic sa Buendia.

World Pyro (MUSICAL) Olympics 2009 at The Fort Bonifacio Global City

IMPORTANT ADVISORY:

The Executive Committee of the World Pyro Olympics (WPO) '09 announced the RESCHEDULING of the WPO, originally set on November 28, December 5, 12 and 19, to January 2010.

The incessant rains and flooding during the past months have rendered the firing area almost unfit for pyrotechnics launchings which have certain international standards to observe. The participating countries have thus agreed to reschedule the event.

Tickets purchased will still be honored on the new event dates.  Final dates will be announced soon. Ticket holders are requested to contact our hotlines at 568-6908 / 384-0239 or visit the WPO official website for more details.

The annual World Pyro Olympics will now be held at The Fort Bonifacio Open Grounds Global City Taguig (behind Bonifacio High Street) Hmm. Not sure if this is a good idea but we'll see! Events will be held for five consecutive Saturdays starting on November 21, 2009.

Película Spanish Film Festival 2009 Screening Schedules

It’s a triple treat for film buffs as Instituto Cervantes de Manila brings back Película, the biggest annual Spanish Film Festival in Asia, at chosen venues in Metro Manila for the whole month of October.


Due to the past successes of its first seven seasons, organizers have doubled the number of films (this year more than 40!), gone from one to three venues and lengthened the film festival. Cultural events have also been calendared, in line with the theme of this year’s festival: Locos por el cine or Adik sa Pelikula.

With new partnerships forged by Instituto Cervantes, the cultural arm of the Spanish Embassy, and the strengthening support from Spanish filmmakers, last year’s attendance by cinema enthusiasts is expected to increase this year. Last year, more than 15,000 spectators attended the Festival.

Selection of films will be divided into four groups this year: Official section (at Greenbelt 3 Cinemas), a Cycle of Spanish & Filipino documentaries (CCP), Spanish Cinema in 8 Films (screened at College of Saint Benilde), and a selection of Latin American indie productions entitled Cine en construcción, also scheduled at College of Saint Benilde.

Película is organized by Instituto Cervantes, in cooperation with the Spanish Embassy in the Philippines, AECID, Ministerio de Cultura of Spain, Filmoteca del Ministerio de AA.EE. de España, Cine en Construcción, Spanish Program for Cultural Cooperation, Philippine-Spanish Friendship Day, LRT, MRT, Cultural Center of the Philippines, College of St.Benilde, Greenbelt and Ayala Malls Cinemas.
